Bring your lunch! We provide the guest speaker, dessert and coffee! Enjoy a 200-mile trek across the north of England with an international cast of amblers, ramblers and scramblers. Take in the scenery, adventure and sociability of the famed Coast to Cast Path extending from the Irish Sea to the North Sea via the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, and a bonus side trip up England's highest peak, Scafell Pike.

Located in Asheville, North Carolina, Biltmore Estate combines the talents of landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted and architect William Morris Hunt. This slide lecture, presented by art historian Jeff Mishur, discusses the history, architecture and landscape plan of the estate as well as parallels between the fictitious Downtown Abbey’s Crawley family and the real-life home of the Vanderbilt’s.

The History of the Great Lakes Naval Station

Erik Wright, Education Specialist from the National Museum of the American Sailor, will explore the history and heritage of the Great Lakes Naval Station from its founding in 1911 through two world wars, the development of modern warfare technology and its current role as Recruit Training Command, the US Navy’s only boot camp. The program is sponsored by the Lake Villa Historical Society.
