A Geologists View of the Solar System

Tuesday, June 24, 2014 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Incorporating breathtaking, full-color images taken by recent unmanned space probes, the lecture reveals some of the strangest terrains and most alien environments imaginable. Special emphasis is laid on the difference between the ‘planetary twins’ Earth and Venus—why one became a magnificent home for life, while the other evolved into a nightmarish world with a pressure-cooker atmosphere, sulfuric acid rain, and a barren, tortured landscape. Presented by Geologist Ray Wiggers.
