Join Barb Sugden & Ron Vargason for an armchair travel cruise of the turquoise waters of the South Pacific to the remote, exotic Marquesas on a combined working cargo/passenger ship with. Stop at Tahiti, Fakarava, Rangiroa, Bora Bora, and Moorea---the islands of Paul Gauguin and Captain Bligh.

Vietnam ceased being a combat zone 50 years ago but the personal memories live on for many. Our presenter, Philip Rovang, experienced it first while he flew throughout northern South Vietnam as a pilot; flying nearly 500 missions up to the DMZ and south to Saigon. He'll retell what it was like flying cargo/passenger airplanes during 1970-71.

The History of the Great Lakes Naval Station

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Erik Wright, Education Specialist from the National Museum of the American Sailor, will explore the history and heritage of the Great Lakes Naval Station from its founding in 1911 through two world wars, the development of modern warfare technology and its current role as Recruit Training Command, the US Navy’s only boot camp. The program is sponsored by the Lake Villa Historical Society.
