LVDL Winter Reading 2017

A Winter’s Tail, Lake Villa District Library’s 2017 winter reading program, couples reading with pets to benefit Save-a-Pet, a local animal rescue organization.

It’s become a tradition for the library’s winter reading program to benefit a charity and this year is no exception. Based on time spent reading (or being read to), the Friends of Lake Villa District Library will donate up to $5 to Save-a-Pet. Every 15 minutes translates to .25 and reading logs, to track reading time, will be available at the Youth and Adult Reference Desks beginning January 2.

Kids of all ages will enjoy the pet-themed classics by Sharon Creech: Love That Dog and Hate That Cat.

Both tell the story of Jack, his teacher, the animals in his life and the power of poetry. While intended for readers ages 8–12, these are books that adults can enjoy too as they’re perfect read-a-louds. Copies will be available beginning January 2.

A Winter’s Tail runs through January 31, 2017.
