Raymond Wiggers, author of the popular earth-science guidebook Geology Underfoot in Illinois,presents an illustrated lecture incorporating a diverse selection of outstanding scenic locales and geologic sites in Illinois. The presentation covers all major sections of the state---from Chicago's monumental downtown to the great river valleys of the central counties, and from the canyons and lead mines of the Galena region to the soaring cliffs of Shawnee National Forest, far to the south.

Learn what makes a book rare and how to research older books from Janet Elliott, owner of This Old Book. She will share information on online resources and tips for finding exact editions. Attendees may bring one book for Janet to evaluate and offer research suggestions.

Take an armchair tour of Northern Italy’s Coast and Plains with Ralph Danielsen. Visit the colorful jewels along the Liguran Sea and many of the most beautiful villages in Europe. Travel to the east to the River Po---the last capital of the waning Roman Empire---and other highlights including the Cinque Terra, Portofino, Lerici, the mosaics of Ravenna as well as the incredible riot of pinnacles that is the cathedral of Milan.
