Summer Reading Program 2019: Read on the Move

Read on the Move kicks off June 10!
(All ages) LVDL’s moving, but our summer reading program is staying. Join us to Read on the Move! We’re inviting people of all ages to read (or be read to) for 20 days and do fun activities. Earn a prize and chances to win a bigger prize! Register at the Youth or Adult Services Desks. Read on the Move runs through August 31.

Morning Make-Believe

(Intended for babies, toddlers and preschoolers) Did you know playing “make-believe” builds developmental skills? We provide the space and props--your child provides the imagination! No registration required.

Library Buddies Training (Grades 9-12)

Tuesday, April 2, 2019 - 4:30pm to 5:30pm
(Grades 9-12) Earn volunteer hours and have a blast helping little kids explore art! During this four-week program, you’ll be paired up with a preschooler to learn about different artists’ work and try out their techniques. Things may get messy, so don’t wear your best clothes. To participate, you must attend the training session on April 2 (please note the time for the training session, 4:30-5:30pm). Please register.

Modern Calligraphy Basics -- $5

Saturday, March 16, 2019 - 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Revive the art of calligraphy with a modern twist. This is a fun hobby to learn--beginners are welcome! Learn how to write with a pen and nib and practice basic strokes of the lowercase alphabet. By the end of the class, you’ll create a simple greeting card to take home!The $5 fee covers the practice sheet and greeting card.
