(Open to all ages) Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a tradition that originated in Mexico. Ancestors who have passed on are honored with festivals and celebrations--decorated calacas and calaveras (skeletons and skulls) appear everywhere as the most recognizable symbols of the holiday. Join us to learn more about Día de los Muertos and decorate a sugar calavera of your own! This workshop will be led by Academia Cultural Xilotl, a local nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve Mexican and Latin American culture through history, art, music and dance appreciation. Please note, children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration begins October 1; please register each person who will be attending.
