Chicago’s iconic pair of lions, that have stood guard in front of the Art Institute since 1894, were donated by Florence Lathrop as a tribute to her husband Henry Field (Marshall’s brother). Florence’s family was one of Chicago’s most prominent and influential families yet they kept a low profile; in fact the lions are never called the “Lathrop Lions”. Come learn about the family that you never heard of that made such an impact on Chicago.
