Get a Library Card

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Lake Villa District Library will be closed until further notice. This measure has been taken for the safety of the general public and library staff, not due to any known exposure.

Get A Virtual Library Card

Don't have a library card? During the temporary closure due to COVID-19, we can email you a library card number so that you can access all of our online resources. Just fill out the online application and we'll be in touch.

Once we reopen, you’ll need to stop in with a current ID or piece of mail to verify your name and address and pick up your physical card.

Library cards are issued to residents of Lake Villa Township. There is no fee.

What you need:

  • Identification that shows who you are and where you live.
    Examples:
    • A driver’s license
    • State ID card
    • Utility bill
    • Voter registration card
    • Banking Check
    • Property tax bill

That’s all! Bring that in and we’ll do the rest.

Library cards for people under the age of 16 require a parent or legal guardian’s signature.

Your library card will allow you to borrow material from most public libraries in Illinois. If you have a library card from another library in Illinois, we will let you borrow our material, but we will ask to see an ID.
