Autumn Leaves: A Painting Workshop

Second (and final) Session Added! Registration limited to the first 30 who sign up! Sixth grade through Adults. Beginners welcome. Capture the fleeting beauty of autumn with this fun painting workshop taught by Christine Thornton. First we'll draw different leaf varieties from observation on pieces of watercolor paper. Then learn to use watercolor pencils to add vibrant color to your leaves.

Stories of Revolution: The Amazing Dr. Franklin

With a wink and a smile, ol' Ben invites you to dinner, and over a fine glass of claret, tells stories of his youth, his inventions ( lightning rod, stove, bifocal glasses, book grabber, swim fins, first political cartoon), public institutions (the first: police force, volunteer fire department, fire insurance company, lending library, hospital, educational academy) and people of the revolution: cantankerous John Adams, bilious Arthur Lee, the bumbling British, the fascinating French, the double-dealing Dutch.

Star*Lab Planetarium

Monday, August 18, 2014 - 10:30am to 2:30pm
Rockford’s renowned Discovery Center Museum is bringing their giant inflatable Star*Lab Portable Planetarium to LVDL! Learn about the constellations of the night sky during this amazing 45-minute experience. Beginning July 1, register in person or by phone for one of the four available shows. Please note, this program is best suited for children ages 4 and older.
