Beginning Yoga

Wednesday, May 7, 2014 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Yoga is about connecting your body with your brain and your breath. These alignment-based classes will teach you how to move mindfully no matter what your experience level. Bring a large towel or two and a mat, and any other props such as blocks and straps that you have. Chairs will be available for those who cannot get down on the floor. What a great way to start the day!Classes taught by Allison Wilmes, soma yoga therapist and teacher.


Teen Duct Tape

Ready to create your own project? You will receive one roll of duct tape and all of the advice and instruction you want. If you choose,after the program, enter your project in the first LVDL Duct Tape Exhibit to win additional duct tape! Registration required. Please register for only one session. Bring a pair of scissors.

Clara Kensie Visit

Enjoy a fabulous hour of writing workshop time with Clara Kensie, the author of the Run to You Trilogy as she teaches us the ins and outs of GMC: Goal, Motivation, Conflict. It's the building block of everything that happens in the story world: what the characters want, why they want it, and what's stopping them from getting it. We'll have fun analyzing the GMCs of the characters from The Wizard of Oz and a popular YA novel such as The Hunger Games, and, if there's time, the aspiring authors in the audience can develop GMCs for their own characters.

The Bully Plays

This year, the Studio Theatre class will be presenting The Bully Plays. This is a collection of short (5-10 minute) plays that relate to ideas of bullying. It is an intriguing, provocative collection of plays that is making its way across the country. It is geared for high school students and their families.

This down-to-earth reading workshop will help you read and “get” poetry in a friendly setting—or help you fall in love all over again! Adults and teens in grades 7-12 are welcome.

Eureka: Invent the Newest Fashion!

Monday, April 21, 2014 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Future fashion designers and inventors will work with newspaper to design a piece of clothing or an accessory (such as a hat or gizmo to carry things on your bike). We will design our prototype, test it, and redesign it. Come join the fun! Registration is required and can be done in person or by phone at 847-356-7711.
