Work to Begin on Library Walking Path

Construction will begin soon on an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant walking path connecting Lake Villa District Library’s upper parking lot to the lake side of the building.

“Developing the green spaces has always been a component of our landscaping plan,” said Library Director Mikael Jacobsen. “And happily, one of the main takeaways from our recent community focus groups was the desire to use the green spaces. So, this a great step toward such usage.”

The path will wind along the north side of the building and will create a nice walking experience for all. Chicagoland Paving Contractors, Inc., the lowest responsible, responsive bidder, was recently awarded the project by the library board. Work is expected to begin in early May and take approximately six weeks.

“How nice will it be to have a garden to read a book at the library or host concerts or outdoor book discussions, etc.,” said Jacobsen. “The possibilities are endless!”

Lake Villa District Library enriches life in our community by connecting people to information, resources and each other.
