Study room use, expanded public computer sessions, in-library reading materials and public seating areas will be available when Lake Villa District Library expands services beginning Monday, May 10, 2021.
With the declining COVID-19 and increasing vaccination metrics in the library’s service area, library administration is confident this is the appropriate next step.
“We are thrilled to be expanding services,” said Library Director Mikael Jacobsen. “We can’t wait to see more people back in the building.”
The library has been open its normal business hours since early April, (Sunday 1-5pm/Monday – Thursday 9am – 9pm/Friday 9am – 6pm/Saturday 9am – 5pm) and according to Jacobsen, has taken a measured approach to adding services. “All along, we’ve worked to find the best balance between prioritizing both patron and staff safety as well as service to the community.”
The mask requirement remains and in-person programs most likely won’t resume until fall. Contactless services such as curbside pick-up and home delivery remain in place for those who are not ready to visit the library in person.
