Evolving from community feedback gathered during strategic planning in spring 2021, the LVDL Outdoor Space Plan is a series of 26 individual projects that will be completed over a several years. Phase I, recently completed in October 2024, brought shade and extra seating to main entrance.
Phase II, The Great Lawn, is currently being designed. At a recent LVDL Board of Trustees Meeting, Hitchcock Design Group presented the 50% plan which you can view here. Construction is expected to begin in spring of 2025.
Enhancing the hospitality and function of the main entrance was the goal of Phase I. By adding more comfortable seating, shade structures and expanding connectivity, library visitors now have more areas to read, study and work. Joseph J. Henderson & Son completed the project in October 2024.
