LVDL Outdoor Space Plan Report

Lake Villa District Library's Outdoor Space Plan evolved from community feedback gathered during strategic planning in spring 2021. The ability to utilize and enjoy the library's outdoor spaces resonated in surveys and focus groups.  View the Outdoor Space Master Plan

A timeline of the project is as follows:

- Phase I was completed October 2024
- The design contract for Phase II, The Library’s Great Lawn, was signed with Hitchcock Design Group September 2024
 - LVDL awarded Open Space Land Acquisition & Development Grant  January 2024
 - Contract signed with Joseph J. Henderson & Son         January 2024
 - Request for proposals    November 2024
 - Phase I Project selected - Library Garden  September 2023
 - Presentation of 95% Complete Plan   March 2023
 - Presentation of 50% Complete Plan   November 2022
 - Community survey & focus groups   May 2022
 - Contract signed with Hitchcock Design Group  January 2022
 - Interviewed the top three firms  December 2021
 - Request for Qualifications for Landscape Architects   October 2021
Phase I Library Garden - Front Entrance and Terraces

Enhancing the hospitality and function of the main entrance was the goal of Phase I. By adding more comfortable seating, shade structures and expanding connectivity, library visitors now have more areas to read, study and work. Joseph J. Henderson & Son completed the project in October 2024.
